This isn’t the kind of music I usually listen to, but I was mesmerized by this epic concept album about “overcoming heartbreak and self-doubt and internet trolls and stupid men,” to quote RAYE. The album mixes very different genres—’40s swing, soul, R&B, and brilliant pop—touching something in me I didn’t expect. It’s a bit bloated at times, but it’s great music nonetheless.

The vinyl pressing itself is a stunning, heavy piece of art. It features a sliding window on the cover, a full liner notes booklet that feels like a theater program, and yellow matrices (on my edition, at least). Absolutely love it.

Worth a full listen (and then decide if you like it or not 😉)
